How we Help

Building Lasting Food Security

There is enough food in the world for everyone—yet injustice and inequality keep families from what they need. World Renew works alongside communities to strengthen local food production and build sustainable, equitable food security. Here’s how we do it.

Step 1

Sustainable farming

We train farmers with climate-adaptive farming techniques that protect the soil, retain moisture, and increase crop yields, even in drought or unpredictable weather.

Step 2

Farmers teaching farmers

We train local “Lead Farmers” to test new approaches, mentor their peers, and share their skills and knowledge, helping entire communities adopt better farming practices.

Step 3

Access to land, tools, and investment

We help break down barriers to land, tools, seeds, and other essentials—especially for women and youth—so all farmers can invest in and grow their businesses.

Step 4

Advancing equality in agriculture

Women make up about 40 percent of the global agricultural workforce but face significant barriers. We work to ensure equitable access to land and resources so all farmers can thrive.

What Partnership Does

We partner with local organizations and global networks to strengthen and equip smallholder farmers around the world. Together, we help farmers grow more food, feed their families, and end hunger in their communities.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank brings together 15 church-based agencies across Canada to fight global hunger. Through shared funding, expertise, and support, it enables members like World Renew to respond to crises and build lasting food security.

What is food security, and how does World Renew’s help families achieve it?
Food security means that people have consistent access to enough nutritious food to live healthy, active lives—today and in the future. We work with families so they can develop the resources needed to end hunger and achieve lasting food security.
World Renew works alongside communities as they strengthen local food production and achieve food security. Our food security programs focus on training in climate-adaptive farming techniques, improving access to land and tools, and ensuring families can grow food right at home with resources like kitchen gardens or livestock.
When weather patterns change or become more extreme, it’s challenging for global farmers to grow enough food to feed their families or earn income. Through our programs, we teach farmers techniques that increase their crop yields while protecting the soil and retaining moisture, even in drought or unpredictable weather.
While we work to provide emergency food supplies in times of disaster or crisis, our approach to food security is centered on helping families find their own long-term solutions to grow and harvest food sustainably.
