Around the world, families are facing a growing food crisis. Conflict, natural disasters, climate shocks, and economic instability make it harder for people to grow enough food, earn a living, and feed their children.
At World Renew, we believe no family should go hungry—and that lasting change happens when communities lead the way.
Through our partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank, we support emergency responses that meet urgent needs today while helping communities build stronger, more resilient food systems for tomorrow.
A Partnership That Multiplies Impact
World Renew is a founding member of Canadian Foodgrains Bank, an alliance of 15 Canadian church organizations working together to address global hunger. Through this partnership, World Renew supports locally led disaster response and long-term food security programs.
And there’s something even more powerful—your gift to World Renew’s eligible food programs can be multiplied up to 4 times its value for Canadian donors.
When Canadian’s give, your donation is matched through Canadian Foodgrains Bank, and then further multiplied with support from the Government of Canada.
This means your generosity reaches more people, helping families meet immediate needs and equipping them to grow lasting food security for the future.
From Crisis to Resilience: How World Renew Responds
Hunger doesn’t look the same everywhere—so neither does our response.
Across the countries where World Renew works, families face a wide range of challenges, from unpredictable weather and poor harvests to conflict and sudden disasters. With more than 720 million people around the world experiencing hunger, our work across diverse contexts is more critical than ever.
That’s why our approach is flexible and locally driven; responding to urgent needs while helping communities build stronger, more resilient futures.
Supporting Farmers to Grow More Food
World Renew, alongside Canadian Foodgrains Bank and local partners, equips small-scale farmers with practical training to grow more food and strengthen their livelihoods.
Farmers learn sustainable farming techniques such as minimizing soil disturbance, keeping soil covered, and diversifying crops, which help improve yields and make farms more resilient, even when rains are delayed.
As Sulaika, a farmer from a rural community in Kenya shares:
“When the projects started, we received training to help us lead better lives. First, we were taught about how to use our land, and we became aware of good farming practices like mulching, planting green vegetables like kale in sacks, and how to store food. Through this, our families are no longer hungry.”
Responding in Times of Crisis
In fragile contexts where conflict, disaster, or displacement disrupts daily life, families can lose access to food overnight. World Renew provides emergency food assistance, which may include direct food distributions, cash, or food vouchers, so families can meet their immediate needs with dignity.
For mothers like Rebecca in South Sudan, where ongoing conflict, displacement, and drought have fuelled food insecurity, this support is life-changing.
“The days we used to suffer because of [the lack of] food are now over. We have quality food to eat in large quantities that can last for a long time. Please thank the donors for this kind project. I pray for the long life of all people involved in making sure my family gets the food,” says Rebecca.
Real Change, Rooted in Community
Everything we do at World Renew is grounded in dignity, partnership, and long-term transformation. By listening to communities and working together with local leaders, we ensure that solutions are practical, sustainable, and impactful.
In southern Madagascar, where years of drought have made it difficult for families to grow enough food, farmers like Eliane are gaining new skills through programs designed to strengthen how communities grow and access food.
“We usually received money and food, but this time we benefitted from agricultural training—which corresponds to my expectations as a farmer. We have stopped using our old farming methods because [we have learned the] new techniques. These techniques are going to be my weapons to fight malnutrition and grow food sustainably,” shares Eliane proudly.
Ending Hunger Together
Families facing hunger need support today—and hope for tomorrow. When you give, you help provide both.
And through our partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank, your impact can be multiplied up to 4X for Canadian donors.
Give today to make an even greater difference.
Help families grow food, recover from crisis, and build a stronger future.
Because together, we can end hunger.
