Together with people like you, we’re making refugee sponsorship possible—helping families find safety in Canada and rebuild their lives.
Sponsoring groups partner with World Renew to get trained, organized, and ready to welcome a refugee family.
World Renew works with the sponsorship group to prepare and submit the application for refugee sponsorship to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
The application is reviewed overseas, where the refugees complete an interview, medical exam, and background checks. This step can take time as families wait for approval.
Once approved, sponsors and World Renew prepare for arrival, confirming plans and readiness. Families are welcomed at the airport and supported as they begin life in Canada.
Sponsors support newcomers as they settle into life in Canada—helping them access essential services, covering basic start-up needs, and providing ongoing guidance as they build independence.
Celebrate the new beginning you’ve helped make possible, reflect on the journey, and continue building lasting relationships.

Refugee sponsorship is a meaningful journey—and often comes with questions. Here are some answers to help you learn more and get started.
World Renew is a Sponsorship Agreement Holder organization. Our signed agreement with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada allows us to help sponsor refugees to resettle in Canada.
World Renew does not sponsor refugees directly, but instead partners with Constituent Groups to sponsor refugees under our agreement.
World Renew partners with Constituent Groups to support them with completing application forms, meeting government requirements, and training and equipping for healthy sponsorship. We submit the application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and correspond on behalf of the Constituent Group throughout the application process and the overseas processing at the Canadian migration office. We also support Constituent Groups after the sponsored refugees’ arrival throughout the settlement year (their first year in Canada).
World Renew partners with Constituent Groups to sponsor refugees, such as a faith-based organization or any registered charity approved to sponsor by World Renew. Examples include, but are not limited to: a church, a community organization, a synagogue, or a mosque. Constituent Groups are fully responsible for the financial and settlement support for the refugees they are sponsoring for their first year in Canada.
Unfortunately, due to the large number of requests that we receive, World Renew does not have capacity to find or suggest Constituent Groups for individual sponsors to partner with.
