Shati lives in rural Bangladesh. Recently married, she volunteers with World Renew to teach women in her community about nutrition. She is also a farmer and an aspiring businesswoman who is a member of her local Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA).
Hope in Bangladesh Through Training and Opportunity
Thanks to World Renew’s training in community health, sustainable farming, and economic opportunity, Shati and her husband have enough food for their family and enough surplus to sell and begin saving for the future.
Through World Renew’s work in gender equity, Shati is also finding a place of respect, safety, and influence within her village. She knows she brings value to those around her and has found encouragement and support to pursue her dreams for a thriving family and community.
Shati’s village receives tools, training, and support to improve crop yields through the generosity of donors in Canada and the United States. This support is helping sow fresh hope and opportunity for Shati and her entire community as they work toward a future free from poverty and hunger.
As families gain access to knowledge, resources, and community support, they are better equipped to build resilient livelihoods and create lasting change for future generations.
How You Can Help Create Hope in Bangladesh

World Renew’s Economic Opportunity programs help families develop sustainable livelihoods, grow small businesses, increase agricultural production, and build financial stability. By providing training, resources, and support, these programs equip people to generate income, strengthen local economies, and create pathways out of poverty.

One important way World Renew promotes economic opportunity is through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). These community-led groups enable members to save money, access small loans, invest in businesses, and prepare for future needs and emergencies. For women like Shati, participation in a VSLA can provide both financial resources and increased confidence as they work toward their goals.
