Top Charity in Canada is a distinction that reflects World Renew’s commitment to transparency, responsible stewardship, and meaningful impact. Among more than 84,000 registered charities in Canada, World Renew was recognized as one of the country’s top 100 charities by Maclean’s magazine.

Each year, Maclean’s evaluates Canadian charities using data provided by Charity Intelligence. The rankings consider how organizations use donated funds and how transparently they share financial and program information with the public.

In the assessment, World Renew received a score of 92.5%, placing it among the top 10 international charities and among the top 100 charities overall.

“Lists like this matter because there are donors in the general public that are looking for ways to give where they can be assured their gifts will be used with integrity in the most cost-effective ways,” said Ida Kaastra-Mutoigo, director of World Renew Canada.

She added that recognition such as Top Charity in Canada helps introduce World Renew to people beyond its traditional supporter base and encourages new individuals and communities to become involved.

“The list also helps [church] members share about World Renew with confidence to their broader circles of relationships, [demonstrating] that World Renew is a good and worthy cause for them to consider giving towards as well,” said Kaastra-Mutoigo.

How World Renew Earned Top Charity in Canada Recognition

World Renew has intentionally worked to provide transparent financial and program information to organizations that evaluate charities.

“A few years ago we contacted Charity Intelligence to ask about getting into their reviews,” said Kaastra-Mutoigo.

Each year, Charity Intelligence reviews publicly available information, including financial reports, program results, and donor communications.

“They gather a lot of information about our finances and program reports. They check what we have on our website and what we share publicly with donors,” Kaastra-Mutoigo explained.

As a result of these efforts, World Renew was previously included in MoneySense magazine’s list of Canada’s top 100 charities and was later recognized by Maclean’s as well.

For a global audience interested in organizational accountability, this recognition highlights World Renew’s ongoing commitment to transparency and responsible stewardship. A Strong Witness Through Partnership

Kaastra-Mutoigo noted that several Christian organizations were also included in the Top Charity in Canada rankings, including the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, of which World Renew is a founding member.

“To see that five out of the top 10 charities in the international charities section include the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and four of its members is a great witness to God’s glory shining through churches in Canada,” she said.

World Renew also shares financial and program information with major charity evaluation organizations in the United States, including Charity Navigator, BBB Wise Giving Alliance (Give.org), and Candid/GuideStar. Through these independent evaluators, World Renew has earned top ratings for transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship.

Gratitude for Donors, Staff, and Partners

Kaastra-Mutoigo emphasized that achievements such as this are ultimately made possible through God’s grace and the support of people around the world who contribute to World Renew’s ministry.

“We are only able to do this work with such efficiency and effectiveness because of the generosity of our donors, including thousands around the world who volunteer their time to serve, and because of our highly dedicated staff and partners.”

Recognition as a Top Charity in Canada reflects the collective effort and trust of donors, volunteers, churches, and partners who make World Renew’s work possible. If you’re ready to take action and help communities around the world build lasting change, give a gift today.
