Many women in the community of Herencia Maya, Guatemala, once looked to the future with uncertainty. As more men left home in search of employment elsewhere, women were often left to carry the full responsibility of providing for their families. This shift brought not only financial strain, but also feelings of isolation and overwhelm.

Through God’s grace, that story is changing.

Strength in Community

With support from World Renew and local partners APIDEC and TRIPAN, a group of women came together to build something new. They formed a collective, working side by side to grow vegetables and raise poultry. What began as a practical solution has become a powerful source of income, stability, and mutual encouragement.

The women now generate enough to better meet their families’ daily needs. Just as important, they have built strong relationships with one another—sharing knowledge, encouragement, and hope.

Where worry once dominated, confidence is growing.

Renewed Hope for the Future

The women describe a profound shift in their outlook. While they once feared what the future might hold, they now feel better equipped to care for their families and face challenges together. They speak of renewed strength, purpose, and a deep sense of empowerment.

They are committed to continuing their work and supporting one another as they move forward. They also ask for continued prayers—that opportunities such as these will grow in their community and reach other women who are facing similar challenges.
