Keche, a farmer in West Africa*, struggled to grow enough food to provide for his family. Despite his hard work, inconsistent rainfall and traditional farming methods resulted in poor harvests. “My production only covered our needs for four months,” says Keche, who often went into debt to pay his children’s school fees.
In West Africa, World Renew supports adult students at Bible schools by integrating training in agriculture, health, and income generation alongside theological education. Through this holistic discipleship approach, students gain practical skills to strengthen their livelihoods and better serve their communities.
Keche is currently studying to become a pastor and lives at the school with his wife and children. As part of the program, he has access to a field where he can grow crops to support his family. Through agricultural training, Keche learned techniques such as producing liquid fertilizer and using planting methods that retain organic matter and water near the roots, helping crops grow more effectively.
Before long, Keche began to see results. “Thanks to the work I’ve done in my field, my harvest seems to be abundant and will cover our needs for seven months,” he shares. “Today, even if I must borrow money, it won’t be much. Agricultural training has helped me overcome challenges like having enough food and paying for my children’s education.”
Thank you for supporting World Renew’s mission. Your generosity helps equip farmers like Keche with the tools and training they need to build more sustainable futures. Please pray for adequate rainfall to support their efforts, and for those who receive training to share their knowledge so that others can also experience improved harvests and stability.
