Truth Centred Transformation (TCT) is a program designed to help churches experience God’s transforming power in every area of life. Its purpose is to see God glorified, churches strengthened and growing, and communities moving out of poverty. TCT provides simple, practical training to churches, equipping believers to apply biblical truth to everyday challenges and to demonstrate God’s love in their communities.
In Uganda, World Renew’s partners are committed to the TCT program and are seeing lives change—people like Thorom Quinto, a member of a TCT group in Olyeko village in northwestern Uganda.
“I joined the TCT training on September 13, 2019. When I attended Understanding God’s Truth and Satan’s Lies, my eyes were opened,” Thorom shared. “I understood that I was not cursed to be poor, nor was it what God desired for my life. I saw how my previous thinking had contributed to my needy lifestyle.”
He continued, “I saw how God has given us so much—Matthew 25:14–30—and how important it is to save.” Before joining the training, Thorom never set aside money for emergencies and viewed himself as perpetually poor and dependent. But that perspective changed. “I realized that I could make money with my own hands using the gift God gave me of weaving baskets,” he said.
Through TCT, Thorom and others learned to make use of the bamboo that grows abundantly in their community. Today, Thorom earns additional income by crafting and selling baskets. “I anticipate earning at least UGX 200,000 annually,” he explained. “It may not seem like a lot, but the money helps me save and invest in agriculture by buying seeds and hiring labourers to work in the garden. God blesses our hard work, and when we save, he can multiply it by helping us reap even more.”
Stories like Thorom’s reflect the wider impact of TCT—restoring dignity, renewing mindsets, and helping individuals and families take meaningful steps toward greater stability and hope.
As we reflect on this work, we give thanks for the ways God is transforming lives and communities through his Word. We pray for continued peace and stability across the region, for sufficient rainfall and fruitful harvests, and for expanded opportunities to support churches and communities as they address hunger, poverty, and injustice while sharing Christ’s love.
