Judith Ng’oma has one unwavering dream: to see her children thrive through education. Her voice softens as she reflects on her own interrupted path. Forced to leave school to care for her sick mother and later married young for her family’s financial wellbeing, Judith’s early life was marked by sacrifice.

She only completed primary school. While she cherishes her role as a mother, there’s a lingering wish for what might have been. As the only daughter in a family of three, the responsibility of caregiving fell solely to her. With quiet resignation, she remembers watching her two brothers head to school each day while she stayed behind.

Judith’s mother’s illness lingered until, sadly, she passed away. Yet, as difficult a time as Judith had caring for her, every Mother’s Day when her own children insist that she take a break from work, Judith longs to celebrate with her mother.

If her mother were alive, Judith would have shared how proud she is to be part of our Free A Family® program—and to see the positive impact the support her family receives from World Renew and our local partner, Eagles Relief, has on her children.

“My children have started working hard at school,” she says. “They always say they want to own and drive their own vehicles one day. They also want to build me a better house when they finish school. All of this is because of the consistent follow ups and teaching of different topics by Eagles Relief. Their performances have drastically changed in school and their results are encouraging, unlike in past years.”

Judith would also share that her relationship with her husband is improving. “To be honest, things are changing with my husband,” she says. “He was not very supportive before . . . but now, after going through different capacity-building trainings by Eagles . . . we have experienced many changes and growth together.”
