“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” — Romans 12:12
The challenges of recent years have left few communities untouched. From global health crises to ongoing conflict and displacement, uncertainty continues to shape daily life for millions. Yet even amidst hardship, Christ’s hope has not been diminished. It remains steady, restoring courage and lighting the way forward for individuals, families, and communities around the world.
Hope does not deny the reality of suffering; it meets people within it. It reminds us that tribulation is not the final word, and that God’s promises endure beyond what we can see.
Hope in the Midst of Crisis
Across the globe, the impacts of climate change have intensified vulnerability. Prolonged droughts have devastated crops, leaving farming families struggling with food insecurity. Floods and earthquakes have swept away homes and livelihoods in a matter of moments. In these places of loss and upheaval, Christ’s hope has lifted spirits and strengthened resolve.
Sometimes that hope looks like renewed determination after a failed harvest. Sometimes it looks like shelter after devastation, or the courage to begin rebuilding when everything familiar has been lost. Even the faintest spark can sustain someone through their darkest days.
Christ’s hope is the power behind stories like Lydia, a farmer who dared to trust that depleted soil could produce again through conservation farming practices. It is present in families forced from their homes who still hold fast to the dream of safety, belonging, and renewal. It is found in survivors of disaster who see possibility where there was once only rubble.
It only takes a spark of hope to transform a life.
Hope That Sustains the Work of Justice and Mercy
Jeremiah 29:11 teaches us, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”
In World Renew’s justice and mercy work, the stories of hunger, poverty, and conflict can be heartbreaking. These are the realities of injustice that so many communities face each day.
And yet, time and again, Christ’s hope prevails. In dozens of countries around the world, more than one million vulnerable people have experienced renewed strength, dignity, and possibility through the collective prayers and generosity of compassionate supporters. This outpouring of care reflects God’s love and abundance, and reminds us that God is always at work — even when circumstances feel overwhelming.
Despite continuing global challenges, World Renew remains committed to the pursuit of justice and mercy. We rejoice in Christ’s hope — the hope that suffering will not have the final word, that injustice will one day be undone, and that God will fulfil his promise to restore creation. Each time a participant in one of our programs finds reason to hope, we are reminded that this hope is not only shared with them, but also with all who walk alongside them in faith.
Please join us in prayer, asking that the world’s most vulnerable children and families will come to know hope and find the courage to persevere through life’s tribulations, confident that they are deeply loved and cherished by God — always. We give thanks that, through the generosity and faithfulness of our supporters, this work of justice, mercy, and hope continues to reach those who need it most.
