An Iowa Church Fills the Barnyard for World Renew
Andrea Van Kooten, special offering treasurer at Calvary Church in Pella, Iowa, wanted a fun giving project during Advent. Already familiar with the World Renew Gift Catalogue, Van Kooten chose the Fill the Barnyard project available on the World Renew’s website.
“We filled a barnyard with animals,” said Van Kooten. “We made a farm mural and small paper animals that we laminated with a QR code on the back. People taped an animal to the mural when they donated cash, by check, or on our online giving page.”
In all, the congregation gave more than 120 animals from the World Renew Gift Catalogue, a whole barnyard, and agriculture training for farmers totaling over $8,000 USD ($11,200 CAD)!
“The project was a fun giving experience for both adults and children at Calvary because everyone got involved,” Van Kooten said. “And we know that World Renew will use our gifts to serve people around the globe.”
