A Small Church’s Big Impact through Animal Giving

When Horizon Community Church in Downers Grove, Illinois, was looking for a mission project for Easter, they got behind World Renew’s Fill the Barnyard materials in a big way. The whole church, 60 people, became involved in purchasing animals to raise funds to help people around the world overcome poverty and hunger. They were especially curious about where in the world families would benefit from their purchases.

“Each time a church member made a donation, we added an animal cutout to our barnyard mural,” said the church administrator, Bev Nicodem. “All together, our small congregation raised $873 [USD] from the World Renew gift catalog.”

The church gave chickens, roosters, chicken coops, rabbits, ducks, pigs, piglets, and goats. The families benefitting from their generosity are in Kenya Haiti, Tanzania, Uganda, Bangladesh, Cambodia, and India. Generosity like this does a whole world of good through World Renew!
