Responding to Winter Tornadoes 2022

Aerial view of widespread storm damage showing destroyed homes, debris, and uprooted trees in a community.

In December 2021, tornadoes ripped through communities in Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, and Mississippi. Across these 6 states, communities are now facing devastation as buildings and homes have been torn apart, and lives have been lost. (National Weather Service, 2021)

World Renew Disaster Response Services (DRS) Regional Managers are in regular communication with other disaster organizations in the states they represent. Currently, the focus is on early emergency response necessary for these communities.

Regional Managers will continue to be in conversation in the weeks and months to come, as DRS looks for opportunities to serve in response to the tornadoes. This process helps DRS plan and prepare for its specialty in long-term response.
