We’re responding to the needs of disaster survivors, supporting Hurricane Ian response efforts, helping them rebuild after this devastating storm.
In September 2022, Hurricane Ian became one of the most destructive storms to impact North America in recent years. After making landfall in Florida as a powerful Category 4 hurricane, the storm brought catastrophic storm surge, widespread flooding, damaging winds, and extensive power outages across communities in the southeastern United States. Thousands of families faced significant losses and a long road to recovery. (NOAA)
World Renew’s Disaster Response Services (DRS) is prepared for a long-term response to the destruction brought about by Hurricane Ian, a record-breaking storm with a devastating storm surge and powerful winds. Streets turned into rivers from the unprecedented storm surge and heavy rainfall. Homes were destroyed, flooded, and damaged by high winds, leaving many survivors in need of long-term support as they worked to rebuild their homes and lives.
Our Hurricane Ian Response
In the weeks and months following Hurricane Ian, World Renew worked alongside local partners, volunteers, churches, and community organizations to support recovery efforts. Disaster recovery is a long journey, and many families continued to face challenges long after the storm itself had passed.
Through Disaster Response Services, World Renew remains committed to helping communities recover from disasters by supporting cleanup, repair, rebuilding, and resilience efforts in affected areas.
Supporting Future Disaster Response
While World Renew is no longer collecting donations specifically for Hurricane Ian recovery, the need for disaster response continues across North America and around the world. Your support helps equip World Renew to respond when hurricanes, floods, fires, tornadoes, and other disasters affect vulnerable communities.
