Amet, 25, lives in a rural community in Honduras. A married father of two, he once supported his family through seasonal work as a banana farmer. While he worked hard, the income was not enough to cover even the most basic needs. Amet longed for a way to provide more stability and opportunity for his family.

Expanding Access to Water and Opportunity

Like many families in his community, Amet’s household faced ongoing financial strain and limited access to safe water. Through World Renew’s local partner, Alfalit, his family was selected to receive a pila—a concrete water storage container—built right on their property. This simple but significant addition helps households better manage water for daily use, improving health and easing daily burdens.

Motivated by his desire to create a better future, Amet saw the project as more than just a service—it was an opportunity. He approached Alfalit to ask if he could assist with construction. Recognising his initiative, the team arranged for him to be trained as a bricklayer’s assistant under the project foreman.

Skills That Build a Future

Through hands-on training, Amet gained practical masonry skills—opening the door to more stable and diversified income. Today, he is better equipped to support his family, not only through improved water access at home but also through new work opportunities that extend beyond seasonal labour.
